There are set fees for various therapy services which are posted on the intake papers.
Billing Insurance At UCI we will bill your insurance company for therapy services you receive with our counselors. At the time of your first session you are asked to pay the co-pay/deductible for the session and if you do not know the amount you are asked to pay the entire session fee until we can establish your correct fee.
Sometimes it helps for you to call your insurance company to find out your rate and provide it to your counselor and bring that information to your initial appointment to expedite the process.
You will also need to bring your insurance card with you so a copy of the front and back of the card can be made to obtain all the necessary phone numbers and processing numbers for your individual company.
If you have two insurance companies please find out which one is the PRIMARY company and which is secondary to avoid delays and problems in processing.
On very rare occassions insurance companies do not pay for the sessions, and if this happens the entire fee is your responsibility at the billed insurance rate. Please keep us informed if your insurance changes or ends, when a new plan year begins and when you owe deductible.
We ask you to make your co-pay, co-insurance and deductible payment at the beginning of the therapy session and have it ready when you walk in the door, this saves valuable therapy time so you can get the most our of your sessions. We will also make the next appointment at this time as well.
We bill most insurance companies and are in-network with some carriers. Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield we are out of network, we will bill BCBS for you, however, they will mail the payment for the sessions directly to you; therefore we ask you to make your payment at each session to the counselor for the therapy session.
When billing questions arise please talk to your counselor who will speak with our insurance billing assistant to resolve issues. During the past five years we have noticed the huge increase in deductible for our clients and stress this creates for them in paying off the deductible balance regardless of what medical service that payment is owed to, whether to our office or another medical service. If that deductible is part of the balance due at our office we will expect your full and complete payment for the therapy services provided.
The first three months of the calendar year tend to be the period many clients have deductible due, please come prepared to pay the fee each session toward deductible as an informed consumer, this also helps so that you are not overwhelming yourself with a large balance once the insurance has processed.
